The Tax Division is ran by Captain Patrick Johnson. Captain Johnson grew up in Jackson Parish, where his dad served as a deputy and Sheriff until 2004.

Captain Johnson has been a deputy of the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office since 2001. Prior to being transferred to the Civil & Tax Division, he served in the Patrol, SWAT, Investigations and Corrections Divisions.

In addition to the Sheriff's duties as the chief law enforcement officer for the Parish of Ouachita, the Sheriff also serves as Ex-Officio Tax Collector for Ouachita Parish and is responsible for the collection and distribution of fees and fines stemming from various traffic and misdemeanor offenses as ordered by the parish courts and 4th Judicial District Court.
