Major Anthony Washington
Major Anthony Washington has dedicated nearly three decades of service to the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office, building a distinguished career marked by leadership, professionalism, and commitment to public safety.
He began his career in 1995 in Corrections at the Ouachita Parish Jail before transferring to the Uniform Patrol Division in 1996. In 1998, he became a Canine Handler, serving for ten years with two dual-purpose police dogs. His expertise and dedication led him to the Investigations Division in 2008, where he served until 2012.
Promoted to Lieutenant in 2012, Major Washington returned to the Uniform Patrol Division as a shift commander. In 2017, he advanced to the rank of Captain, leading the night shift with distinction before transitioning in 2020 to serve as day shift Commander. In 2023, he was appointed Administrative Captain of the Uniform Patrol Division, and in 2024, he achieved his current rank of Major, where he now oversees all operations of the Uniform Patrol Division.
Major Washington is a 1991 graduate of Grambling State University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. He is also a graduate of the 52nd North Delta Regional Training Academy and the prestigious 294th Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
Administrative Captain Allen Evans
Administrative Captain Allen Evans has devoted more than three decades of service to the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office, building a career defined by leadership, dedication, and commitment to public safety.
Captain Evans began his career with OPSO on May 18, 1992, working in the Old Ouachita Parish Jail before attending the North Delta Regional Training Academy at Northeast Louisiana University. Upon graduation, he joined the Uniform Patrol Division, where he was promoted to the rank of Corporal. He was later selected as a member of the Sheriff’s Office’s first Special Crimes Apprehension Team (SCAT), where he served for two years.
Following his service on SCAT, Captain Evans transferred to the Investigations Division and was assigned to Metro Narcotics. He was subsequently promoted to Sergeant and returned to the Uniform Patrol Division as a supervisor. His leadership abilities continued to be recognized through successive promotions—first to Lieutenant, then to Captain as a shift commander.
On July 1, 2024, Captain Evans was promoted to Administrative Captain of the Uniform Patrol Division, where he currently oversees administrative operations and supports the division’s overall mission of serving and protecting the citizens of Ouachita Parish.
The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office Uniform Patrol Division is under the direction of Major Anthony Washington and Administrative Captain Allen Evans. This division has 125 deputies with combined service time of approximately 1,060 years of experience. There are a total of 80 patrol units assigned to this division, which includes 60 take-home units and 20 pool units.
The Uniform Patrol Division is made up of Patrol Deputies, School Resource Officers, Truancy Deputies, Communications, K-9 Deputies, and the Special Crimes Apprehension Team (SCAT).
The Uniform Patrol street deputies are divided into four shifts that consist of approximately 17 deputies per shift, including three K-9 Officers that are assigned night shifts. Patrol deputies are responsible for patrolling our parish and answering calls for service for the public 24/7. There is also a full-time Desk Sergeant that is available to assist with the daily walk-in complaints and calls that can’t be handled over the phone. On average, these deputies answer approximately 1,597 calls for service per week.
